Melissa Michaud
RCC, EMDR therapist

It is an absolute privilege to walk alongside my clients on their path to healing and well-being. With ten years of experience working with children, youth, and families of varying abilities and walks of life, I have gained an open-minded and empathic approach towards individuals and their personal situations. Before becoming a counsellor, I worked as an early childhood educator, where I used art, play, and physical activity to promote healthy living and resiliency among children and their families.
My career as a registered clinical counsellor began in the mental health and addictions field, where I worked alongside youth and adults who struggled with substance use or who were personally impacted by a loved one’s substance use. I work with individuals of all ages and specialize in trauma therapy. It is from these experiences that I have developed a client-centered approach where I incorporate various therapeutic theories and practices to meet the unique needs of every individual with whom I work. Depending on the specific needs of the client, I also incorporate research-based techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) in my practice. It is my goal to create a therapeutic space where clients feel valued, safe, and autonomous.
